Duke Stone of Cornwall design, supply and install premium bespoke stone surfaces including quartz worktops, granite, marble, porcelain and sintered stone for kitchens, bathrooms and luxury interiors across Cornwall. Working with homeowners, developers and designers in Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, Wadebridge, Padstow, Rock, St Austell and surrounding areas, we combine expert craftsmanship with contemporary coastal inspired design.
Bath House pairs dark timber cabinetry with restrained white stone surfaces. Working alongside Meadows Kitchens, Duke Stone templated, fabricated and installed the island and perimeter stonework to give the room a calm, continuous finish.
The project is defined by contrast rather than a heavily patterned surface. Slim white worktops frame the cabinetry, while the broad island creates a bright central preparation area. Along the wall run, the surface continues around the flush-mounted hob and rises behind it to form an easy-to-clean backdrop and display shelf.

Project: Bath House, Cornwall
Applications: Island worktop, perimeter surfaces, flush hob cut-out, wall cladding and display shelf

The main wall run required an accurate hob opening and consistent front edge across the surrounding cabinets. The pale surface keeps this working area visually uncluttered, while the matching vertical stone behind it protects the wall without introducing another finish.
Above the worktop, a narrow matching shelf turns the same material into a practical display ledge. Its alignment with the tall cabinetry and extractor enclosure helps the separate elements read as one composed elevation.

The island introduces the largest uninterrupted area of stone in the room. Its clean perimeter and measured overhang emphasise the simple geometry of the timber base, creating a useful central surface without competing with the cabinetry.
Templating the island and wall run after the cabinetry was installed allowed Duke Stone to work from the final site dimensions. This was important for the hob opening, the wall junctions and the consistent relationship between the stone and the cabinet lines.

The completed stonework gives Bath House a deliberately understated finish. White surfaces reflect light through the kitchen, while the warm timber remains the dominant visual material. The result is a practical island and cooking area connected by a consistent palette and carefully controlled detailing.
Duke Stone can template, fabricate and install islands, worktops, splashbacks and other made-to-measure stone details across Cornwall.
Duke Stone templated, fabricated and installed the island and perimeter surfaces, including the hob cut-out and matching stone details on the main wall run.
Continuing the material vertically creates a coordinated finish and provides a practical surface behind a cooking area. The precise design and extent should be agreed for each kitchen.
The stone is normally templated once the relevant cabinetry and fixed elements are ready, so cut-outs and junctions can be based on final site dimensions.
