Duke Stone of Cornwall design, supply and install premium bespoke stone surfaces including quartz worktops, granite, marble, porcelain and sintered stone for kitchens, bathrooms and luxury interiors across Cornwall. Working with homeowners, developers and designers in Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, Wadebridge, Padstow, Rock, St Austell and surrounding areas, we combine expert craftsmanship with contemporary coastal inspired design.
Western Terrace uses pale, softly veined stone to connect several working zones within a light oak kitchen. Duke Stone worked alongside Meadows Kitchens to template, fabricate and install the U-shaped worktops, sink area, cooking splashback and waterfall breakfast bar.
Unlike the restrained white surfaces at Bath House, this project is shaped by visible veining and a more complex run of details. The stone turns corners, meets a window, frames a black undermount sink and continues vertically at both the range and the end of the breakfast bar.

Project: Western Terrace, Cornwall
Applications: U-shaped worktops, black undermount sink cut-out, drainer grooves, upstands, range splashback and waterfall breakfast bar

The sink run brings several fabrication details together in a compact area. A black undermount bowl sits below the polished opening, with drainage grooves cut into the stone to the right. Matching upstands follow the rear wall and continue below the window, giving the perimeter a consistent edge.
The pale surface and black fittings create a clear contrast, while the subtle movement in the stone adds depth without overpowering the oak cabinetry.

Across the main cooking wall, the worktop runs into a tall matching splashback behind the range. This gives the busiest part of the kitchen a robust, continuous finish and carries the material’s light veining onto the vertical plane.
At the breakfast bar, the horizontal surface turns through a full-height waterfall edge. Achieving a clean transition at this prominent corner depended on accurate site dimensions, careful fabrication and controlled alignment during installation.

The completed installation uses one surface language across several different functions. Fine veining softens the pale worktops, the black sink and tap give the washing area definition, and the waterfall end turns the breakfast bar into an architectural feature within the open room.
Duke Stone can fabricate sink cut-outs, drainer grooves, splashbacks, waterfall ends and made-to-measure worktops for kitchens across Cornwall.
Duke Stone templated, fabricated and installed the perimeter worktops, undermount sink opening, drainer grooves, upstands, range splashback and waterfall breakfast bar.
A waterfall edge continues the worktop material vertically down the end of a cabinet or seating area. It creates a prominent finished side and requires careful measurement and alignment.
Yes. Where the chosen material and specification are suitable, grooves can be machined into the surface beside an undermount sink as part of the fabrication process.
