Mawgan Porth Kitchen Worktops and Wall Cladding

Mawgan Porth Kitchen Worktops and Wall Cladding

At this completed home in Mawgan Porth, dark cabinetry, patterned worktops and richly textured wall cladding form a kitchen with strong contrast. Duke Stone worked alongside Torben Schmid Kitchens on the stone surfaces. Photography supplied by Torben Schmid Kitchens lets the finished details tell the story.

Mawgan Porth Project Overview

Location: Mawgan Porth, Cornwall

Visible applications: Kitchen island and perimeter worktops, sink and hob areas, splashback and full-height wall cladding

Kitchen partner: Torben Schmid Kitchens

A Kitchen Built Around Contrast

The island’s patterned surface stands out against the dark, handleless cabinetry. Behind it, the worktop continues along the wall, while the dining area gives the room a second focal point. The wide views show how the surfaces read together from different parts of the open-plan space.

Cladding as a Continuous Feature

Large areas of textured cladding move beyond the usual splashback. The photography shows the finish around the kitchen, across a feature wall and through an adjoining passage. Recesses, sockets and lighting lines interrupt the panels where the room needs them. The surfaces connect several parts of the interior.

The Working Details

Close views reveal the relationship between the worktop, inset hob, sink and textured splashback. A fine lighting strip above the sink brings out the cladding’s variation without competing with the clean lines of the cabinetry. The finish is effective at both room scale and close range.

Mawgan Porth Project Questions

What stone features can be seen in this project?

The photographs show an island and perimeter worktops, a sink and hob area, a textured splashback and extensive wall cladding.

Which materials were used for the cladding?

Torben Schmid Kitchens identified Dekton and Neolith among the cladding materials for this home. An exact product schedule for each photographed surface was not supplied.

Can worktops and wall cladding be planned together?

Yes. Considering the surfaces together helps align colours, junctions, cut-outs and lighting with the kitchen design. Duke Stone can discuss the details during the templating and installation process.
